Virtue - Honesty

This week in our whole school assembly we continued to consider the virtue of "honesty."

I was joined by three wonderful young actors from Reception, Dylan, Niamh and Bea - they were amazing!

They acted out a scene to show the school that when we don't tell the truth or use unkind words we take a step away from God. God never moves away from us, we move from Him. When however we tell the truth our relationships get stronger with each other and with God. God loves us no matter what we do. He is always there to forgive us and welcome us back into a loving relationship.

Language Legend this week is Ezekiel in  Y4 for his wonderful jungle animal sentences in French using great adjectives and beautiful drawings.

Saints Peter and Paul

The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated on 29 June, supposedly the day that both saints died, although years apart.

Peter

Peter was one of the 12 apostles chosen by Jesus. Originally named Simon, he was given the name ‘Peter’, which means rock, by Jesus and was made the leader of the apostles at Caesarea Philippi. This made Peter the first Pope and leader of the Catholic Church. Peter was martyred and was crucified upside down, as he did not see himself as worthy to die the same way as Christ.

Paul

Paul was a Jew whose main task was to hunt and persecute Christians. He never met Christ whilst he was on Earth, but Christ appeared to him on the road to Damascus. After that Paul converted to Christianity and worked to spread the life and teachings of Christ. He wrote many letters with many of the books in the New Testament being attributed to him. Paul travelled widely spreading the Good News and was martyred by being beheaded outside the walls of Rome.

This year Our KS2 children shall be attending the parish Mass at 10am(Wednesday the 29th) at St Josephs Church.

Uniform Reminder

When the children started back in school in September, they looked incredibly smart in their new uniforms.

It has been noted that standards are slipping. Please note uniform is as follows:

White Cotton Shirt with collar suitable for a tie
School Tie
Tailored Grey Trousers/Shorts
Grey Pinafore/Grey Skirt - Knee Length
Green Gingham Dress - Knee Length
Socks/Tights  -  Grey or White
Black Sensible Shoes (No Trainers No Boots No Sandals)

All of the above information is available on the school website.

If you have any issues or problems in terms of uniform, then please contact the school office.

If children do attend school in incorrect uniform, then a letter will be sent home from school. If there is a reason that your child is not in uniform, then please let the school office know.

Dear Lord,

It only takes one kind word to make us feel loved.

May the words we say be kind and thoughtful.

It only takes one loving word to make us feel comforted.

May the words we say be blessed.

It only takes one comforting word to make us feel positive.

May the words we say be helpful.

When God speaks to us, it makes us feel happy.

God’s words are wise.

May our words be wise and always honest.

With your help may we not use unkind or hurtful words but words which make ourselves and others feel proud and happy,

Amen
