Friday 11th March 2022

Loving God,
We pray for the people of Ukraine,
for all those suffering or afraid,
that you will be close to them and protect them.

We pray for world leaders,
for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world
that in this moment of crisis,
we may reach out in solidarity
to our brothers and sisters in need.

May we walk in your ways
so that peace and justice
become a reality for the people of Ukraine
and for all the world.

Amen.

In this week's assembly, we explored the virtue of LOVE.

We considered how we could show love for God through our loving concern for everyone, especially those who need our help the most. We spoke about treating others with respect and kindness in just the way we would expect to be treated by others.

Of course at this time our attention turns to the tragic situation in Ukraine . We discussed how as a school we could help these poor people who have lost everything in the midst of this war . We decided that we could send our prayers and also raise funds . Next week we shall have a non-uniform day and also a special bun sale - please do support this appeal.

On Friday 18th March, we will be having a non-school uniform day in aid of the CAFOD Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. To find out more about the charity and their appeal please visit their website:https://cafod.org.uk/

We are suggesting a £2 donation for your child to come in non-uniform. It would be wonderful to see the children in the Ukraine national colours of blue and yellow. However, please no football kits.

On this occasion, we will be collecting your donations in cash on the day.

There shall also be a bun sale for the children on this day. Buns will be 50p each and shall be sold at break time.

Thank you for your support.

This week our Language Legend is  Sophie  from Y2 for going above and beyond in Spanish and for her super attitude to learning!

We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Friends of St Josephs.

They provided the funds for us to buy our complete collection, of "100 Books to Read Before You Leave St Josephs."

These books have been specially chosen by our staff and represent different genres of books that we would love the children to become familiar with before they leave us. All the book titles can be found on our website.

Our Y5 children, have designed special labels so that we all know which are the special books to look out for. They also had a great time exploring these lovely new texts !

Our amazing Y6 Reading prefects are doing a wonderful job of inspiring our younger children to become great readers, they really are excellent role models !

Last week our Y3 children had  a lovely day out at Kelham Island Museum as part of their local history topic.

As you know, in recent months we haven't had many trips, so it's even more special to get out and about. The children behaved impeccably and all the staff were so very proud of them.

We have been discussing with the children that at Lent, we should all be praying more. Please use this time to pray the Our Father and Hail Mary, with your children.
