Friday 3rd December 2021

It really is starting to look like Christmas !

It really is such a magical time to be in school. This week our special Christmas elves, stayed behind after the children had left to make sure that the school was decorated for the 1st of December. Today some of our Y6 children made the finishing touches to our beautiful tree.

Sadly with the current climate, we are unable to have you in school yet again this year. Please know that the children and staff are now working really hard to make sure that we can share all of our productions with you remotely. Hopefully in this way you can share the magic with friends and family at home.

The children can wear their Christmas Jumper to school on Monday the 20th of December. This is a non-uniform day, but you do not need to make any donations.

Well done to this week's Language Legend, Mariagrazia Y6 for her amazing written work in French describing a house for sale and especially her excellent use of adjectives.

ELF DAY

On Friday the 17th of December, we shall be having our annual Elf Day. Children and staff should all dress up in their very best elf outfits !

We ask for a donation of £1 per child - which will go to the Sheffield Children Hospital Charity.

Thank you all for your generosity. We raised £310.57 for this very worthwhile cause.

As the temperatures have really dropped now, please could we remind you all to make sure that your child has a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves for school.

Also, we are still making sure that our rooms are well ventilated as per government advice. This means that although we have the radiators on in all areas, we also have the doors and windows open to allow air flow.

As temperatures have now taken a turn for the worst, it would be sensible for the children to have on an extra layer whilst in class, for example a fleece or a gilet that they can wear over their uniform.

Today all of our children watched the CAFOD Light of The World assembly. We heard how children have been showing love in action this year, and found out how we can be a light in the world this Advent too.

Virtue: Patience Virtue to live by: I can wait. I have self-control and act calmly even when things are difficult.

Word Matthew 24:36-44

No One Knows the Day and Hour “No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come—neither the angels in heaven nor the Son; the Father alone knows. The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah. In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat; yet they did not realise what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes. At that time two men will be working in a field: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind. Two women will be at a mill grinding meal: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind. Watch out, then, because you do not know what day your Lord will come. If the owner of a house knew the time when the thief would come, you can be sure that he would stay awake and not let the thief break into his house. So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.

How can we be ready and prepare ourselves for Jesus, the light of the world? What virtue do we need to see in ourselves at this time? Patience.
