Friday 1st October

Yesterday we had our Macmillan bun sale. Thank you to all the staff for donating so many delicious cakes and biscuits. We raised a grand total of £105.00 and there were so many cakes left over, meaning that the children got to have an extra treat in the afternoon !

Fingers crossed next year we can once again host our Macmillan coffee morning and invite you all into the school.

We currently still have Nursery places available for 15 and 30 hours. If you know anyone who may need a place please ask them to contact our school office for further information.

Learning Ambassadors

In school in all classes from Y1-Y6 we have a Learning Ambassador. This is a class representative who greets any visitor that enters their classroom, and explains what the class are doing at that moment in time.

Unfortunately this is something we have been unable to do in recent months, but hopefully things will continue to return to normal, and we can once again have visitors in our school.

I have met with the group this afternoon and was so impressed with how articulate and confident they were — I know that they are going to do extremely well !

Y1 Antek, Y2 Sophie, Y3 Ava, Y4 Esme, Y5 Sophia and Y6 Belle

This week our star children are......

Nursery : Dino, for super learning and fantastic listening.

Reception : Tilly, super kind friend to everyone in our class and being an amazing helper at tidy uptime. Well done Tilly!

Y1 : Brea, she has worked really hard in phonics with Mrs Parker this week.

Y2: Derek, for amazing explanations in maths when adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers.

Y3: Evie for her 'can do' attitude towards all her work.

Y4: Josh, for being always enthusiastic and ready to learn.

Y5: Sammy, for consistent good work and a conscientious attitude.

Y6: Isobel, for always trying her very best and for being an excellent role model.

This week's Language Legend is William from Y3 for his excellent pronunciation and conversation skills.

On Wednesday morning the school photographer shall be in school to take individual photos of the children.

Healthy Snacks

All the children in our Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2 are provided every day with a healthy snack of fresh fruit. These children should not bring in a snack from home.

It has been noted recently that some children in other classes (KS2) are bringing in chocolate, crisps and even bubble gum. Please can you make sure that your child has a healthy snack such as a piece of fruit or plain biscuits.

Please also make sure that your child brings into school a fresh bottle of water on a daily basis. Children are not allowed juice, pop or fizzy flavoured water or other flavoured water in their bottles.

Tomorrow is a really special day for some of our children, as they shall be making their First Holy Communion.

Pope Francis refers to the Eucharist as a gift.  He reminds us about how important the Eucharist is to our faith journey.  He encourages us to receive the Eucharist as a family as often as possible.  Our Holy Father once said, to a group of young people in Italy, “You will make your First Communion, always remember that day your whole life: the first day that Jesus came to us.  He comes, makes himself one with us, makes himself our food, our nourishment to give us strength.”

Lord Jesus Christ, bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time.

May this day be the step towards a life-long love of the Eucharist.

Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.

Thank you for their innocence and goodness.

May their hands, extended in anticipation of your body and blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred Sacrament.

Amen.

We are all working really hard at the moment rehearsing our different performances for Harvest. We will share this with you all online on the last day of this half-term.
