Mr Peter Dolan

We received some very sad news this week that Mr Peter Dolan had passed away recently at the age of 91 years. Mr Dolan, was a previous Headteacher here at St Joseph's, from 1968 to 1988. During that time, I am sure that he made a real difference to the lives of so many children and their families.

Mr Dolan's funeral shall take place next week in Wickersley, obviously according to current restrictions.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Dolan's family at this time.

Mrs Budd has now started to take the orders for ties, book bags and badges. We are able to attach the badges for you for a small fee. An email shall be coming out to you all very shortly.

When purchasing the new uniform, please can we remind you that skirts should be appropriate school uniform and appropriate length (ie knee-length.) and should be grey.

We had an amazing “Bear Day,” today the children looked fantastic in their bright colours. Thank you to all of our families for your donations. We shall count this up next week and then let you know how much we have raised.

St Joseph's Neighbours — An Urgent Request

We have been made aware that a number of children have been leaning against one of our neighbours walls and walking on top of it. This particular neighbour is now understandably very cross about this as it has now resulted in damage to the wall, which will need to be repaired.

Please can we ask that you are mindful of our neighbours property when waiting to drop off and collect your children.

The children have all been made aware of this in today's assembly.

Nursery : Dino : for excellent listening and following complex instructions.

Reception : Rodrigo for doing a fantastic job at reading his numbers up to 50

Y1 :Derek has been working really hard in all his learning so far this term and is making real progress with his maths, phonics and reading! Well done !

Y2: Nathaniel, for settling into a new school, a new class and a new routine so well!

Y3: Frankie — He did amazing presentation and handwriting today.

Y4: Noah — For being always ready to learn and having a positive attitude towards his work!

Y5: Grace has really impressed me in maths this week! She has been trying extra hard to solve different word problems, and always asks for help when she needs it. Well done!

Y6: Joe for showing real resilience and positivity even when things are hard and being thoughtful of the feelings of others.

Dropping Children off in the Morning :

I was very concerned this week, to see a number of our children being dropped off outside the school gates, directly jumping out from their cars.

It was extremely worrying as many children were crossing the road and cars were swerving to avoid them. I do feel that this is a real issue and is an accident waiting to happen.

Please can I remind you all that you have a responsibility to ensure that your child arrives at school safely. If you are arriving by car, this may mean parking a few minutes away and then walking to school.

Please can I also remind you to wait with your child/children until they are taken into school — this would apply to all children from Nursery to Y5 — unless other arrangements have been put into place.

Please help us to keep all of our children safe. Thank you as always for your co-operation and support.
