Friday 26th March 2021

As you know in normal circumstances, we would have had  whole school assemblies during Holy Week , culminating in our Passion Play in church.

Unfortunately, again we are unable to do this. This year, each KS2 teacher shall deliver an assembly focusing on a different event of Holy Week. These shall then be shared with all of the children in their class bubbles.

Year 3 - Palm Sunday (29th March)

Year 4 - Maundy Thursday (30th March)

Year 5 - Good Friday (31st March)

Year 6 - The Resurrection (19th April)

During Holy Week the children will  be encouraged to travel with Jesus during the last few days of his life and to think about the significance of the Easter story and the pivotal part that it plays in the whole Christian journey today.

The Sheffield Catholic Schools Partnership , have worked together to produce a beautiful version of Stations of The Cross. Please take the time to share these with your family.

Covid safety advice for parents

Greg Fell, Sheffield's Director of Public Health, has urged parents and their children to keep following Covid guidance.

Following the return to school, we have received reports of:

  • children having sleepovers and playdates at friends' houses
  • children with symptoms not getting tests and being sent to school
  • a lack of social distancing

This could cause an increase in cases and stop our roadmap out of lockdown.

Staying safe outside school

School bubbles are only safe in school because of all the other protective measures in place like ventilation, extra cleaning, face coverings, etc. It is unlikely that the same level of protection is taken elsewhere, and therefore children should not mix with their school bubble outside of school.

One in three people don't have symptoms and can spread Coronavirus without realising. And most cases (70%) are caught in the home as the virus spreads much more easily indoors when people are in close contact for longer.

We know most people are being responsible - thank you for everything you're doing to keep yourself and others safe.

If you’re a member of a household, childcare bubble, or support bubble of a pupil, student or staff of a school, nursery or college, you should take two rapid (LFD) tests a week. This helps to stop the spread because if you know you have Coronavirus, you can self-isolate and avoid infecting others.

Tests can be accessed in several ways:

  • through your employer if they offer testing to employees
  • at a local test site – find your nearest rapid lateral flow test site at NHS: Covid Test Finder
  • (NEW) by collecting a home test kit from the asymptomatic test site at the English Institute of Sport (EISS), Coleridge Road, Sheffield S9 5DA. From 24th March this will be open 9.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday
  • by collecting a home test kit from a local test site – find your nearest home test kit collection point at NHS: Rapid Test Collection Covid Test Finder
  • by ordering a home test kit online – this service is only for people who cannot get a test through the methods above. Order rapid lateral flow home test kits online at GOV.UK: Schools testing

As you know, this week marks one year since the UK was put into its first National lockdown.

This Pandemic has touched us all in so many ways and it is important that we now take time to reflect and think about all of the people who have lost their lives, families affected by it and also to think about all of the heroes who have been such a source of hope.

It seems timely that we take a moment to remember the hero Captain Sir Tom and everything that he achieved, especially in the final years of his life. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our incredible children who rose to the challenge and did something “100 times,” in honour of this very special man.

Thank you to Mr Findler, for putting together this lovely film of the children’s achievements. We hope that you all enjoy it.

Light Nights Assembly  - Operation Equinox

Today all of the children from Y1-Y6 watched a special assembly, in their class bubbles delivered virtually by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

They learnt how when the lights get lighter and warmer , South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the Police, are called out to many more incidents.

They all learnt how to be sensible and still have fun.

Please ask your child what they learnt today.

Hoppity Hop ...the patter of bunny feet were heard up and down the corridors this week ..what were they doing ? Were they delivering something special...?

All of the children had gone home, so Mr Exley took this photograph.

Something very strange is going on...we will have to wait and see what happens next week....

We hope that you all have a loveley weekend.
