Friday 12th of March 2021

It has been a wonderful week in school and such a joy to walk down the corridors and see all of our children in their classrooms , learning again with such enthusiasm.

Thank you to all of you for making sure that the children were all ready and prepared for their return.

Thank you also for your patience with drop off and pick up, almost all of the children arrived on time . We realise that for those of you with more than one child , this can be a little tricky. Please do continue to bear with us, at the moment we are strictly adhering to Government guidance in an effort to keep our whole community safe.

As you can imagine, we are working to very tight timescales when bringing the children into school. If you need to speak to a member of staff, please either email the office (office@st-josephs.sheffield.sch.uk) or call the office. The appropriate member of staff will then contact you when they can.

Please can I urge you all again to wear face coverings, when dropping off and collecting the children .

What to do if you are late, when dropping off your child :

Please make every effort to be on time when dropping off and picking up your child/children.

If for any reason you are late when dropping your child/children off in the morning, then please call the school office. Please wait at the appropriate gate and a member of staff will then come and take your child into school . This may mean that you have to wait for a point when we can safely take your child into school, without crossing other class bubbles.

Personal Belongings:

At the moment, children should just be bringing into school :

  • Lunch
  • Water bottle (washed daily and filled with clean water)
  • Reading Book (which is then quarantined in school for 48 hours, before being handed to any other child.)
  • Mobile phone - Y6 ONLY

Please note that at the moment , we can unfortunately not accept cakes/sweets to be given out the class on your child's birthday.

St Josephs Day - Friday the 19th of March

Next Friday (19th March) is St Joseph's day.

There are many Catholic traditions that surround this feast day and although we can't celebrate as we would usually we still want to mark this important day. One tradition is to wear red so we would like the children to wear a red accessorie  eg red socks, a red belt, a red bobble, a red ribbon in their hair. It is also red nose day so some children may choose to wear Comic Relief  red noses. (Please note the children must still be in uniform.)

Should you wish to donate to this charity , you can do this online by visiting the following website.

https://www.comicrelief.com/

You may prefer to make a donation to a Catholic charity such as CAFOD, which as you know is involved in aid and development work in many countries around the world.

Fingers crossed the weather will be fine and we shall then be able to make a special alter to St Joseph in the school grounds. Then during the day the children will create flowers, prayers and cards that they shall then present to St Joseph .

Dogs in the playground

Please not that dogs are not allowed in the playground. This applies to dogs on a lead and to dogs that are being carried.

As you know we are making sure that the children are spending time outdoors. This week the weather has really been awful  and a number of children have not brought a coat to school.

Please make sure that your child has appropriate outerwear when attending school

Uniform - September 2021

We hope that all of our Mums, have a lovely Mothers Day. Many of the children may be bringing a special something home today. Please be aware that these things were all made earlier in the week and have been quarantined for at least  48 hours.
