Please note - school is closed next week for the half term holiday . Monday the 22nd of February is an INSET day, school will be closed to all children.

The DfE has amended guidance for parents and carers of eligible children attending out-of-school settings during lockdown. The update makes clear that parents should try to limit the number of settings their children attend as far as possible.

Remote learning and critical worker provision, will commence on Tuesday the 23rd of February.

Next week, marks the start of Lent with Ash Wednesday .

Please discuss with you child the meaning of Lent , explaining that Lent lasts for forty days because that's how long Jesus wandered in the desert, fasting, while he resisted the devils  temptations. Explain that your child has an opportunity, during the forty days of Lent, to be like Jesus. They too can resist temptations and use this time to become closer to God.

During this time we should all make a real effort to :

  • Pray More
  • Give something up , perhaps something like treats and sweets or watching too much TV.
  • Do something for others . This may be giving to charity, doing a chore for someone else or simply giving up your time for others .

Parents Evening - March 2021

From the week beginning Monday 1st March we will be having parents’ evening for Reception to Year 6 (Nursery will have theirs next half term – details to follow)

Due to the current restrictions, the meetings will be carried out via Google Meet. You will be allocated a 10 minute appointment with your child’s teacher. This will be an opportunity for you to discuss how your child has engaged with remote learning. You will receive booking information by Friday 26th February. We will then publish the link for you to follow a few minutes before your time. You will then wait for the teacher to let you into the meeting

Please follow this link for a short demonstration on how to join a Google Meet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg3YC0P80LM

Google Meet can be used on any device but you may need to download the Google Meet app if using a mobile phone or tablet. Please get in touch if you need help with this.

Dear Lord,

We thank each other for the support and friendship we share. We thank God for all the ‘saints’ who have touched our lives during this tragic, time of COVID-19, ordinary people, yet real  heroes: doctors, nurses, care staff, all NHS staff,  key workers, shop workers, good neighbours, family and friends and so many others who have touched our lives.  We also thank God for government leaders who are faced with new challenges and with difficult decisions to make. Finally, we thank God for scientists, all those developing vaccines and those who are administering vaccines locally and throughout the world.

Lord we thank you.

I really hope that you all have a lovely half term holiday and make the most of spending quality time with your families . Hopefully the sun will shine and we can all get out and make the most of the outdoors . Thank you to all of you for again  supporting St Josephs,  during this past term, it has  been an incredibly busy one ! All the staff have worked so hard  and really are ready for this break, which I am sure you all are too. Make sure that you all take some  time to relax and recharge if at all possible.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs McFarlane
