Children’s Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021. This year's theme is Express Yourself.

Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.

As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health.

Mentally Healthy Schools

This week, I asked all of the teachers to have a real think of anyone who has gone over and above with their learning recently . This really was a difficult decision for the teachers to make, because so many of our children have impressed us with their effort, resilience and determination this term.

Nursery : Jonah , for outstanding reading . Lola, for the best pictures.James, for always trying his best and Niamh, for the best story recalls.

Reception : Lucie : She has done her work every single day and has done some fantastic writing even though she is using her left hand (she has broken her right). She has been a superstar from the first day back.

Y1 : Robert : He has been working incredibly hard so far in lockdown, particularly on his phonics and writing. Robert,  has really embraced remote learning and is engaging well. I always look forward to seeing the photos and videos mum regularly emails and uploads to  Purple Mash.

Y2: Thomas : He has worked hard with his Purple Maths tasks, in particular having multiple attempts determined to keep beating his personal best with a suffix challenge.

Y3:Frankie, for always working hard with all of his learning.

Y4: Bailey : She has accessed all her home learning and gone over and above. I have seen photos and videos of her completing work and Mrs Cosgrove has emailed saying how amazing her French is too! She seems to be working really hard , we are very proud of her.

Y5: Ryan: For always working incredibly hard .

Y6: Ciara: For always working extremely hard with a very mature attitude.

We shall  shortly be sending out another survey, in relation to our online provision. It really is very short and will just take you a few minutes to complete. As you know we have been working really hard on our online offer and are continually trying to improve the opportunities we offer the children  . Your feedback will be essential in this process of moving further .

Thanks in advance for taking the time to do this.

Candlemas

Feast of The Presentation of the Lord

2nd February 2021

Live streamed Mass from St Marie’s Cathedral (www.stmariecathedral.org )

Suggested instructions:

Wherever your pupils gather, in the class or at home with their families, please choose a suitable candle for the focus point to gather around, representing Jesus, the Light of the World. You will want to be especially careful with safety instructions for those at home, so that a pupil is not lighting a candle alone without an adult present!!

At the beginning of Mass, Fr Chris will welcome you all, and will bless your candle as he lights one in the cathedral, and says a special prayer. Mass will then proceed, and is likely to be short, around 30 minutes, as is normal for Mass without singing during a weekday. Just before the final blessing, Fr Chris will invite everyone to ‘Take the Light of Christ into your school and your home and let it shine through you’.

He will invite everyone to recite the prayer of St Teresa of Avila with him, before Mass concludes.

Prayer of St Teresa of Avila
Christ has no body now but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Before the Christmas holidays, we raised £120, for the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal. Thank you so much to all of you for your generous donations, I know that the sisters, really will appreciate this especially at this time.

They would like you all to know, that our school family is constantly in their prayers.

Thank you to all of the parents, who completed our social media survey . As requested by you, we shall be starting our own St Josephs School, Facebook Page, in the very near future .
