Parent Review Day

Thank you to all of our parent and carers, for attending our Parent Review Day.

This really is a useful time to set targets together for the rest of your child's school year. Having the opportunity to do this together with your child, really is important as it makes sure we are all working towards the same goals , which will in turn have an impact on their achievement and progress over the year

If you still haven't been able to arrange an appointment to see your child's class teacher, then please get in touch after the half term holiday.

We still have places available in our school nursery (either 30 or 15 hours.)

Our Nursery setting, provides our children with an extra year of St Josephs Education. The children start their phonics and mastery maths sessions, that will then continue throughout school. They learn to interact and communicate with others. They also develop their skills and learning behaviours, in a school based setting.

If you would like your child to join us, then please contact Mrs Budd in the school office.

Road Safety Week will be coming up after the half term. It is 18-24th November. During this week, the children will all be looking at different issues linked to this topic.

There will also be an assembly for all of the children , with a road safety officer to show the children how to cross the road safely.

The school council are very keen to make this an important event and raise awareness about the issues of parking outside school. They will be on patrol every morning during this week.

Please make sure that your child has a warm coat and scarf/hat/gloves in school.

It looks likely that the weather will start to become more wintry after the half term.

Please also keep an eye on our website for any updates relating to adverse weather and school closures.

Firework safetyfireworks and bonfire resource pack thumbnail

Despite annual safety warnings, firework celebrations still end in painful injuries for too many people, including very young children, yet fireworks can be great fun for families .

Injury figures support the advice that the safest place to enjoy fireworks is at a large public display - far fewer people are injured here than at smaller family or private parties.

But if you’ll be having a firework party at home, you can make the occasion fun and safe for everyone by following the Firework Code, as well as some sparkler and bonfire safety tips.

Firework code

Only adults should deal with setting up firework displays, the lighting of fireworks and the safe disposal of fireworks once they have been used (and remember, alcohol and fireworks don't mix!). Children and young people should be supervised, and watch and enjoy fireworks at a safe distance. Follow these top 10 tips for a safer fireworks party:

Plan your firework display to make it safe and enjoyable, and ensure it finishes before 11pm

Only buy fireworks which carry the CE mark, keep them in a closed box and use them one at a time

Read and follow the instructions on each firework using a torch if necessary

Light the firework at arm's length with a taper and stand well back

Keep naked flames, including cigarettes, away from fireworks

Never return to a firework once it has been lit

Don't put fireworks in pockets and never throw them

Direct any rocket fireworks well away from spectators

Never use paraffin or petrol on a bonfire

Make sure that the fire is out and surroundings are made safe before leaving.
