Image result for welcome back

Welcome back to all of our children and families and a special welcome to all of our new children and families. We hope that you have all had a lovely summer.

This week has started well, all of the children have settled  into their new classes and are enjoying their learning.

The children have all been learning about the exciting topics they will be covering, in our new creative curriculum. Today in our "Golden Assembly," the children thought about our new St Josephs Learning Behaviours , which will help them achieve and produce excellent work.

These will be our school STRIPES.

Image result for inspiring youth award

On Wednesday Y6 had a visit from PC Bobby Dev and Chief Insp. Turner to discuss the Inspiring Youth Project.

This Project is run in many of the secondary schools in South Yorkshire, for children of age 13 years and upwards. St Josephs remain the only primary school in South Yorkshire to run this programme . It is a fantastic opportunity, which will put our children in great stead for secondary school and the future.

We do hope that all of the children participate and take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any questions about the project, then please do not hesitate to contact either Mrs McFarlane or Miss Beasley .

Image result for reading with parents quotes

This year reading will be a  focus for St Josephs. The children will be taking part in a number of different activities to increase engagement and enjoyment.

Please can you make a real effort to read with your child for at least 10 minutes a day.

...as parents, we have to find the time and the energy to step in and help our children love reading. We can read to them, talk to them about what they're reading, and make time for this by turning off the television set ourselves. Libraries are a critical tool to help parents do this. - Barack Obama
