Friday 17th November 2023

On Monday morning, all of our lessons were interrupted by a very strange video, from a secret agency, called Dreams of Time and Space. We were invited to become part of the agency and help them with their mission! Then our assembly was taken over by the Director of the agency, D3, Agent Argyle and all the MAKER agents. We found out that they chose our school because we have incredible MAKER Spirit!

D3 explained that there was a dream storm heading to our school and there was a dream that needed fixing. The dream belonged to Ada Lovelace. Each class was given a mission.

Key Stage 2's mission was to fix Ada's dream. Year 6 created a moving sculpture to inspire Ada. Year 5 created music to encourage Ada to keep going. Year 4 created an animated dream to give Ada confidence to fly. Year 3 created a dream launcher to catapult messages and dreams through the dream-o-sphere to Ada to give her inspiration in her dreams.

The mission for KS1 and EYFS was to build a new more powerful dream machine to get the new dream to Ada. Year 2 made the lights for the dream machine with circuits and cardboard. Year 1 set up alerts using circuits and Reception built a big dream machine structure.

This week has been Anti-Bullying Week. The theme is 'Make A Noise About Bullying'. This theme was chosen following consultation with teachers and pupils by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Teachers and children wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

The Antibullying Alliance Call to Action:

Too often, we are silent when we see bullying take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’.
It doesn't have to be this way.

Of course, we won’t like everyone and we don’t always agree, but we can choose respect and unity.

This Anti-Bullying Week let’s come together to have discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Together, we can make a difference and take a stand against bullying.

From the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, let’s make a noise about bullying.

Each class has used the Anti Bullying Alliance resources to help raise awareness and tackle the issue of face-to-face bullying and bullying that takes place online.

Our top tips for good school attendance

  • create good attendance habits from when your child first goes to nursery
  • talk to your child about the importance of school for their future
  • take a positive interest in your child's work, including helping them with homework
  • help your child to get into a good night-time, sleep time and morning routine
  • have a good relationship with school, talk to them about concerns you have and your child’s progress
  • contact school on the first day of absence if your child is not able to attend
  • be honest with school if your child is absent or not wanting to attend
  • book all holidays in the school holidays and not in term time
  • book medical appointments after school or during the school holidays. If you can’t, then make sure your child attends before and after their appointment
  • prioritise school attendance over other activities and ask for help if you need it

Weekly Attendance - week beginning 13th November 2023
