This week I have been overwhelmed by the maturity and growth mind-set of our Y6 children. They have all approached their SATS tests in a really positive and determined way.

I know we have a while to wait for results to be published, but we are so proud of every single one of them. They have all worked extremely hard and were undaunted by the challenge of the tests.

Special thanks to our fantastic Y6 team,Miss Beasley and Mrs Roe for all of their hard work and dedication over tha past few months.

Y2 have also been taking their SATS over the past few weeks. Again it has been incredible to see such young children approaching these national tests in such a positive way.

Thanks also to the Y2 team, Mrs Harrand,Mrs Wilson, Mrs Rippon and Mrs Fiddler for all of their hard work .

The May Procession

Image result for our lady

As you know the week beginning the 20th of May, is Cultural Diversity Week, where we are encouraging our children and families to celebrate and share their different cultures.

On Tuesday the 21st of May, we will be having our annual May Procession. After speaking to Fr. Mark about the occasion, he felt it would be a lovely idea for the children to dress for the day in a way that would honour Our Lady.  It would be fantastic, if we could see some of our children in their national dress or bright and colourful clothes (As always no football kits please)

Please as usual, can children bring in a few flowers to present to Mary at the end of the procession.

The procession will start at 2PM, it would be lovely to see you there.

Operation Encompass

I would like to inform you of a project that is being introduced in South Yorkshire. It is called Operation Encompass, a partnership between South Yorkshire Police and Education, supported by each Local Safeguarding Children’s Board.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting on any domestic abuse incidents, where the police have attended and that might have an impact on a child in school.

A key safeguarding member of staff in school will be informed when a domestic abuse incident has been recorded within the previous 24 hours or over the weekend. This will enable school to monitor children possibly affected and, where required, support if necessary.

A letter will be sent out to you all shortly with further details.

We are delighted to announce that our school is participating in a brand new Relationship Education programme for Catholic primary schools, titled Life to the Full. You may hear your child coming home talking about this and we want to give you a brief overview of this new and ambitious programme.

As you may be aware, Relationship Education becomes statutory for all primary schools from September 2020. The Life to the Full programme is based on ‘A Model Catholic RSE Curriculum’ by the Catholic Education Service which was highlighted as a work of good practice by the Department of Education. Therefore, we have confidence that the programme will be fit for purpose in supporting the growth and development of your child.

Life to the Full is much more than a series of lessons. It is an entire platform of creative resources that will engage, inform and inspire our children and, indeed, you as parents. This includes interactive video content, story-based activities, employing a wide range of teaching tools, original worship music and an accompanying programme of classroom prayers.

Life to the Full is intended to be partnership between home, school and church. We know that you already do a fantastic job and we see our new programme, Life to the Full, as a means to further develop, support and enrich the partnership between home, school and church so that your child is fully supported.

There shall be a parent’s workshop to explore this programme in more detail on Monday the 20th of May at 2:45 in the school hall and to answer any questions that you may have.

After our recent requests for two parent governors, we were fortunate to be approached by one of our parents.
