Padley School's Pilgrimage

On Tuesday, July 11th, our Year 6 children embarked on their annual Padley pilgrimage to Padley Chapel.

The weather forecast predicted rain, but luckily the morning remained mostly dry, allowing the children to join with students from other schools across Hallam Diocese to celebrate mass. The mass to honour the Padley Martyrs, Blessed Robert Ludlam & Blessed Nicholas Garlick, who were arrested at Padley in 1588 was led by Bishop Ralph, Mgr Des Sexton and Father Paddy.

                            Year 4 Violins

The children in Year 4 demonstrated their musical skills with an informal concert for their parents. They were able to showcase their amazing learning over the year. The musical fundamentals developed through this programme builds a greater understanding for children of what is involved in music making and creates strong foundations for further instrumental lessons.

KS2 Choir

Our fantastic KS2 choir, led by Mrs Cosgrove and Ms Beasley, performed a series of songs for parents on Tuesday afternoon. Several children from Year 3 had choreographed and rehearsed a dance to Coldplay's 'A Sky Full of Stars' which they displayed beautifully. Parents were invited to sing along and join in with all the songs.

Year 1 Weston Park Museum

The children from Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Weston Park Museum to investigate the museum's toy collection. The children explored ideas about the age, use, materials and manufacture of the toys through play and speaking and listening activities. They then used clay to make their own historical toy to take back to school and also curated their own display case.

On Thursday we had our “Festival of Arts Day.” The children have been working hard this term exploring, skill building and creating art for their topic work. They have worked so hard and produced such fabulous creations that parents were invited into school to see some of the beautiful work the children have completed this term.

We have been so impressed with their efforts this term. Well done, and thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition.

Virtues to Live By

For the last week of term our Virtue to Live By is

SERVICE

How can you use your gifts to serve or help others?

I look for ways to help others without being asked.

I give my time to serve willingly.

I encourage others to use their gifts to serve.

By serving others I share God’s love.

“Each of you should use the gifts God has given you to serve others.” (1 Peter 4:10) “
