KS2 Sports Day

On Thursday afternoon the children from KS2 competed in our annual Sports Day event. Although there was a mixture of sunshine and clouds all the children, from Year 3 to Year 6, were eager to participate and were encouraged to take part in every event available. There was an impressive display of skill, stamina, determination and sportsmanship from the children and a fun afternoon was had by all

EYFS & KS1 Sports Day

The children from EYFS and KS1 had their sports day on Thursday morning. They had practised the events within their PE lessons this term and showed great determination, skill and sportsmanship throughout. We were really pleased to see so many parents and carers come to watch the children competing in the activities. For those who were unable to attend we hope you can see how much the children enjoyed the event in the pictures below.

St Joseph's Learning Behaviours

Congratulations to the children who have been awarded certificates for demonstrating Perseverance this week

Year 1 - Christine has been trying really hard at not giving up when she becomes overwhelmed with her work. She regroups and keeps going, and produces beautiful work.

Year 2 - Ethan understands that real learning requires effort and persistence and he often finds his own way to achieve his goals

Year 3 - Oceane is very determined and does not give up. When faced with a challenge she works through a problem and tries again and again. She demonstrates a real growth mindset

Year 4 - Milan Who struggled in art lessons over the course of the week to be positive, however after watching Austin's Butterfly and realising that we all need to persevere he created a beautiful picture that he is very proud of. He's even started to encourage others to never give up!

Year 5 - Anastasia has found sewing tricky, but she has really persevered and her 'Passion for Fashion' item is now looking really good.  She should be really proud of herself.  Well done Anastasia.

Year 6 - Not just Miss Beasley, everyone she asked agreed that Anna embodies the Learning Behaviour of perseverance - in her reading particularly but in everything she does!

Connie in Year 5 followed our golden chair assembly with a presentation on wellbeing.

Connie is so passionate about mental health and wellbeing, so she was asked to lead an assembly to launch 'Five A Day' to the school.  Not only is' Five A Day' about eating healthily, it is also about 5 things you can do each day to improve your mental health and wellbeing.  These are 1. Connect, 2. Take notice, 3. Give, 4. Be Active, 5. Keep learning.  Connie delivered the assembly with confidence and enthusiasm and she was a real credit to the school.

Virtues to Live By

For the last few weeks of term our Virtue to Live By is

SERVICE

How can you use your gifts to serve or help others?

I look for ways to help others without being asked.

I give my time to serve willingly.

I encourage others to use their gifts to serve.

By serving others I share God’s love.

“Each of you should use the gifts God has given you to serve others.” (1 Peter 4:10) “

How can you use your gifts to serve or help others?

Reflection of St Teresa of Avila:

Christ has no body but yours,

No hands, no feet on earth but yours,

Yours are the eyes with which he looks

Compassion on this world,

Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,

Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.

Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,

Yours are the eyes, you are his body.

Think about how you can be the hands, the feet, the eyes, the body of Christ and use your gifts to serve others
