The Feast of Corpus Christi

The Feast of Corpus Christi commemorates Jesus' sacrifice for His people and how we remember this sacrifice at Holy Mass. In Latin, Corpus Christi means Body of Christ.  On Holy Thursday, we remember the institution of the priesthood and the Eucharist, the Last Supper, the Agony in the Garden, the betrayal of Judas and the beginning of the Passion of Christ.  It is easy to become lost in so many beautiful things to remember.  Corpus Christi Sunday allows us to focus solely on celebrating the real presence of Christ – Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity – in the bread and wine.

Drowning Prevention Week

7th to 24th June

This is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about water safety and promoting measures to prevent drowning incidents.

Bikeability

This week the children in Year 6 have been taking part in Bikeability cycle training. Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Pupils not only learn to cycle, they gain independence, social skills and a sense of wellbeing.

After Bikeability, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. This allows children to get more out of the classroom, improving their attention span and engagement. Healthier habits lead to increased attendance and improved academic results.

Bikeability goes beyond a training course; it impacts children’s lives.

Drawing Club

Every week we get a new story, cartoon or traditional tale. We are then introduced to new vocabulary where we help create actions to help us remember the words. We then have to draw a detail picture to go with the story! We work really hard on this and have even started using some of the vocabulary in our writing! This week we have been telling stories about castles which has led us to enhance our outdoor area with a castle theme

The Reception class had a fabulous day at the butterfly house today. They saw lots of amazing animals and creatures including a tarantula.

With the good weather hopefully set for the next few weeks, it is important that our children come prepared for the summer term ahead. Please can we ask that the children come to school prepared for the weather by:

  1. Wearing sun cream each day.
  2. Ensuring your child comes to school with a refillable water bottle.
  3. Ensuring that your child also comes to school with a hat they can wear when they are outside.

Virtues to Live By

 I tell the truth.

I am reliable and trustworthy.

My actions match my words.

I am honest with myself and others, even when it is difficult.

This week we will try to make sure all our words, especially those about others are truthful, honest and kind
