The Feast of the Ascension

The Ascension takes place 40 days after Easter Sunday and commemorates the day on which the resurrected Jesus leaves his disciples in Galilee to join God the Father in heaven. Before he did so, Jesus shared with his disciples his final instruction – known as the Great Commission – to go out and deliver the message of God’s love and mercy with everyone, everywhere. This is the mission all Christ’s followers continue to share. KS2 joined the parish for mass at 10am to celebrate this feast day.

This week we have been celebrating science week. We have had an amazing week with lots of STEM ambassadors visiting school and experiments happening in and out of the classrooms.

Bring and Buy BOOK SALE

The children of the School Council have decided to organise a Bring and Buy book sale in school on Wednesday 24th May at breaktime.

It is to fundraise for an end of term treat.

The idea is that each child that wants to participate brings in an old book from home that they are prepared to swap for another second hand book and bring in a £1 to take part.

Big Lent Walk

We finally managed to complete our BIg Lent Walk for CAFOD to raise money to help people as they overcome poverty.

Thankyou for your generous donations and sponsorship

Mary Queen of the May

Our Liturgy Leaders prepared an assembly to honour Mary in this special month. One of the reasons why May is dedicated to Mary is because this is the month when plants and trees come into leaf, flowers bloom and the sun brings increasing light and warmth to the world. By courageously and humbly accepting God's plan, Mary would bring Jesus into the world. Her choice brought hope, joy and new life to the world.

In May children in many countries place crowns made of flowers on statues of Mary or lay flowers at her feet. These are ways to show love and respect for Mary for bravely choosing to be the mother of Jesus. We can ask Mary to pray with us and for us knowing that she will take our prayers to Jesus
