Friday 16th September 2022

Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the Sovereign.

The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and as such school shall be closed as a mark of respect.

Today in our whole school assembly, we were joined by Jim Shaw, from Living Streets. He came to launch WOW our Walk to School Challenge.

WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk/wheel, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It's that easy!

It's simple to run and children love taking part. Each year, the collectable WOW badges are designed by pupils in our annual badge design competition. On average, WOW schools see a 30% REDUCTION IN CAR JOURNEYS taken to the school gate and a 23% INCREASE IN WALKING RATES.

The children shall all be bringing home an information leaflet with them today .

Hopefully by now you will all have received your "Meet the teacher," email.

Should you have any questions after looking at this then please do not hesitate to contact school.

Start and End of the Day

Dear Parents,

Since the start of term, we have been notified on a few occasions of children running into other children and even into parents, whilst waiting on the playground to come into school at the start of the day. Please could we ask that you watch your child/children whilst they wait to come into school.

Please can we remind all parents to be punctual when collecting children after school or collecting children from after school clubs.

As always, thank you for your support.

I am respectful.I treat others as I would like to be treated.

I show courtesy to everyone as we are all made in Gods image and likeness.

Again we have been thinking about these virtues. We will be thinking about how we can try to find ways to think of others before ourselves.

"Father, help us to show the love you show us every day through our words and actions. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen."

A date for your diary : Blood Cancer Awareness Coffee Morning

On Wednesday the 28th of September we shall be having a coffee morning in the school hall school (from 9am.)

Donations of cakes/buns and biscuits would be greatly appreciated. Please could we ask that any donations are shop bought/pre - packed. Please could we ask that donations are brought into school the day before the coffee morning - Tuesday the 27th of September.

Children shall then be able to purchase something during their break time for 50p.

Proceeds from this event shall be sent to the Sheffield Childrens Hospital and as September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, a donation shall also be made to Leukaemia UK.

Gracious God, we give thanks

for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,

for her faith and her dedication to duty.

Bless our nation as we mourn her death

and may her example continue to inspire us ;

through Jesus Christ Our Lord

Amen
