As another school year comes to an end, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this such a special year at St Joseph's.

Our 150th anniversary has given us so many wonderful opportunities to celebrate our school's rich history, reflect on how far we've come and create memories that will stay with us for years to come. It has been fantastic to share these celebrations with our children, families, staff, governors, parish and wider community.

To our amazing children – thank you for making St Joseph's such a happy and vibrant place to be. You make us proud every day with your enthusiasm, kindness and determination. It has been wonderful to see you living out our Catholic values by showing compassion, respect, forgiveness and care for one another. You truly are the heart of our school.

To our parents and carers, thank you for your continued support throughout the year. Whether you've attended school events, supported learning at home or simply trusted us with your children each day, we really do appreciate the partnership we share.

A special thank you also goes to our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to provide the very best for every child. Their commitment, care and passion help make St Joseph's the special place that it is.

As we look back on our 150th year, we do so with grateful hearts. We give thanks for everyone who has been part of St Joseph's over the last century and a half and for the strong Catholic community that continues to guide us today. Our faith reminds us to love one another, serve others with kindness and always strive to be the best we can be.

I hope you all enjoy a relaxing and well-deserved summer break with your families. Thank you once again for being such an important part of our St Joseph's family.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year together.

A special good luck to our fantastic Year 6 children as they get ready to leave St Joseph's and start the next exciting chapter of their journey at secondary school. It only seems like yesterday that many of you joined us, and now you're ready for new adventures, new friends and new opportunities. We are so proud of everything you've achieved and of the kind, caring young people you have become. We'll miss seeing you around school, but we know you'll continue to shine and make us proud wherever you go. Remember, you'll always be part of the St Joseph's family, and we wish you every success and happiness for the future.

Staff Farewells

As you know, we shall be saying goodbye to a number of members of staff at the end of this term.

Mr White will be leaving us to join a school a little closer to home. We would like to thank him for everything he has done for our current Year 6 children during the two years he has been with us. We wish him every success and happiness in his new role.

Mrs Roe, who has been supporting Year 4 for two days each week, will also be leaving us. Mrs Roe has been part of the St Joseph's family for over 20 years. During that time, she has supported hundreds of children, particularly with their SATs preparation, ensuring they were confident and well-prepared for the next stage of their education and transition to secondary school.

She will be greatly missed, and school simply won't feel the same without her. Mrs Roe is now looking forward to a very well-earned retirement, and we wish her many happy years ahead.

Mrs Marshall, who has supported our Reception class for one and a half days each week, will also be leaving us at the end of this term. Throughout her 12 years at St Joseph's, she has helped so many of our youngest children develop the fundamental skills they need to thrive as they move into Key Stage 1.

Mrs Marshall will also be retiring, and we thank her for her dedication and care over the years.

On behalf of everyone at St Joseph's, we would like to thank Mr White, Mrs Roe and Mrs Marshall for their commitment, hard work and the positive difference they have made to the lives of so many children. We wish them all the very best for the future.

Welcoming New Staff

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Rae, who will be teaching our Year 6 class, and Mrs Robinson, who will be leading our Wraparound Care provision.

We are sure you will join us all in giving them a very warm welcome to the St Joseph's School family.

 

We know that our children are superstars and never stop impressing us while they are in school. We also know that when they leave at the end of the school day, they continue to achieve amazing things beyond the classroom.

We would love for you to share what they have been up to and how they are living our school motto:
“We Live, We Love, We Learn, We Share.”

Heidi from Y4 recently took on the challenge of abseiling 90 feet from Millers Dale Viaduct, descending over both land and water, to raise money for the charity Jude and The Book Factory.

She has raised over £300 for this wonderful cause – what an incredible achievement! We are so proud of her courage, determination and kindness in supporting such a worthwhile charity.

The PTA raised an incredible £6000 at this year's summer fair. 

We've already purchased the two sheds for the new PE equipment. The sheds should arrive during the summer holidays. We've also arranged for the carpets in Reception and Year 1 to be professionally cleaned over the holidays.

The PTA haven't made any further decisions about spending at this stage. They will discuss future plans at the AGM in September, when we'll also be encouraging more people to get involved with the PTA.

The ice cream van also came into school yesterday, fully funded by the PTA.

A lovely end to a great school year.
