May is associated with new life and spring blooming, making it the perfect time to honour Mary as the "perfect flower" who brought Jesus into the world.

Year 6 SATs Week

This week, our Year 6 children completed their SATs tests, and we are so proud of them all!

Every day they came into school with smiles on their faces and gave each test their best effort. They showed such a positive attitude, worked really hard and supported each other throughout the week.

Well done, Year 6 — you have all been amazing!

Dear parents/Carers,

This year our school is hoping to achieve our silver Food For Life award.

There are a few things that we could really do with your help and support with.

1.  Healthy Breaktime Snacks – Please send your child to school with healthy snacks. This should be, for example, a piece of fruit or a plain biscuit. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, then school provides fruit for them. CHOCOLATE AND CRISPS are not allowed at breaktime as they are unhealthy snacks. (Children can have these at lunchtime as part of their packed lunch though.) Our Nutrition group will be looking for the healthiest snacks and giving special stickers out.

2. Water Only School. As you know, we have been a water-only school for a number of years. Please make sure that your child comes to school with a bottle of fresh water every day. Juice and pop are not allowed. If your child does bring this into school, teachers will send it home at the end of the day and your child will be given a bottle or cups of water while in school.

Please please please, do help us in becoming an even healthier school!

We have lots more exciting ideas – so please watch this space.

Thank you

St Josephs Nutrition Group

Don't forget our Summer Fair this year is on Sunday the 5th of July ...more details coming very soon.

 Castleton Residential 2026

This week, our wonderful Year 5 class enjoyed their residential visit to Losehill Hall. They had an amazing time and enjoyed every minute of the experience.

As always, their behaviour was absolutely fantastic, and they were a real credit to our school. Year 5, we are incredibly proud of you!

A huge thank you to Miss Beasley, Miss Gray and Mr Exley for accompanying the children and making sure everyone had such a memorable and enjoyable trip.

We know that our children are superstars and never stop impressing us while they are in school. We also know that when they leave at the end of the school day, they continue to achieve amazing things beyond the classroom.

We would love for you to share what they have been up to and how they are living our school motto:
“We Live, We Love, We Learn, We Share.”

Congratulations to Ethan and Freddie, who were recently awarded the Cubs Chief Scout Award ! An excellent achievement boys !

On Friday 22nd May, you are invited to our annual May Procession. May is dedicated to Our Lady, and this is a special time when we come together to honour her. It has become a much-loved and memorable part of our school year.

The procession will begin at 2:00pm in the school playground. Please can children wear something blue on the day, and bring in a flower or two to place at the feet of the statue of Our Lady.

We shall once again be serving refreshments and cream teas afterwards .

We look forward to celebrating together with you.

Please do make a note of these dates. We will ensure that we keep you updated with any additional events or further information in due course.
