Friday 12th September

đź—ł Democracy Day

Today we celebrated Democracy Day across the whole school. This special day gave our pupils the chance to learn about the importance of having a voice, making choices, and respecting the views of others.

As part of the day, pupils took part in the election of our new School Council representatives, Learning Ambassadors, and Liturgy Leaders. Each child had the opportunity to cast their vote, experiencing democracy in action and recognising how their choices can shape the life of our school family.

We are very proud of all the children who put themselves forward for these important roles and congratulate those who were successfully elected. We look forward to seeing the positive contributions they will make in the year ahead.

🎉 150th Anniversary Celebration đźŽ‰

We’re proud to be celebrating 150 years of St Joseph’s this term!
To mark the occasion, we will be holding a:

✨ Mass of Thanksgiving

đź—“ Date: Monday, 22nd September
🕝 Time: 1:30pm
📍 Location: St Joseph's Church

It would be wonderful to see as many of you there as possible to share in this special moment with us.

After the Mass, please join us back at school for refreshments – a lovely chance to gather as a community and celebrate together.

Welcome to Our New Reception Children !

We are delighted to welcome our new Reception children, who have made a fantastic start to their primary school journey. They have all settled in really well and are beginning to get used to the school routines.

We are very proud of each and every one of them and look forward to seeing them grow and thrive at St Joseph’s!

St Joseph’s Spiritual Garden Update

We’re delighted to share that Mr Exley has now completed levelling the garden space—a big step forward in creating our Spiritual Garden.

A huge thank you to RKM GRAM Hire and Haulage Ltd for generously loaning us the machinery to make this possible. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Next steps will be to create a pathway into the Garden … watch this space!

St Josephs Church is looking for more children's liturgy leaders for Sunday morning 10am mass.

We currently only have 4 leaders for the children and, ideally, we would like to increase to about 8.

No experience is required as we work from the liturgy books provided by the church.

DBS will be required, which again is done by the church.

If anyone is interested, please contact either Fr. Mark at the church or Luisa Meco or Joanne  Higton Shirt in the school yard.

Safeguarding at St Joseph's

  • If you have any concerns about a pupil at our school, please share this information with us straight away.
  • Issues such as appearance, hygiene, behaviour, can be shared with teaching or support staff.
  • Do not worry about reporting small matters – we would rather you tell us than miss a worrying situation.
  • If you think that a child or an adult who cares for them has been or might be harmed, please talk to a member of our trained safeguarding team immediately (details below).
  • You can ask any member of staff to find them and speak to you about a confidential and urgent matter.

If you are unhappy with the way we have dealt with something, please tell us.If you wish to report it to us formally, please use our complaints procedure or write directly to the Head Teacher or Chair of Governors. A concern, allegation or disclosure of abuse involving someone working with children or adults in a paid or unpaid capacity must be reported directly to the Head Teacher, unless it involves them, and then it should be reported directly to the Chair of the Governing Body, Rev. Mr Simon Hegarty.

Our Year 5 children were asked by Fr Mark to find out the meaning of St Joseph’s name.

We did some research afterwards and thought we’d share it with you all! 💛

The Meaning of St Joseph’s Name

The name Joseph means “God will increase” or “God will add.”
It reminds us that God can bless and provide for people. St Joseph, as the caring father of Jesus, shows us what it means to protect, support, and care for others.

St Joseph’s Prayer

Dear St Joseph,

This is our school,

Let light shine in and smiles fill up the room.

Help us to be independent, hard-working pupils,

With courage and confidence, just like you.

Amen
