Prayer for Pope Leo XIV

Prayer for the new Pope

Faithful God,
You guide us on the path of life
and your goodness is our constant companion.

Be with our new Shepherd, Pope Leo XIV,
in his service of the Church.
Fill him with the power of your Spirit,
the peace of your presence
and the compassion of Christ.

May he walk with you,
in wisdom and humility,
and lead us, together with all God’s people,
to embody your love for the world.
Amen.

"Good Parking, Bad Parking"

Sheffield City Council and schools are implementing a "Good Parking, Bad Parking" program to address unsafe and inconsiderate parking around schools. This initiative involves students researching and educating drivers about proper parking practices, with red tickets handed out to those parking illegally. The program aims to improve safety for pedestrians, particularly children, and reduce traffic congestion during school drop-off and pick-up times.

KS2 School Council and Year 6 Take Action on Parking Concerns

Yesterday, our KS2 School Council, along with several Year 6 students, had the opportunity to meet with Courtney and other representatives from the programme. During the meeting, the children spoke clearly and confidently about their concerns regarding parking around St Joseph’s School.

They highlighted worries about their own safety, as well as the safety of more vulnerable members of the community—such as wheelchair users and individuals with hearing impairments. Their thoughtful insights and mature approach made a strong impression on the visiting team, who were full of praise for how articulate and sensible the children were.

As part of the session, the students also created their own "Good Parking" and "Bad Parking" tickets. Over the next few weeks, they will be using these to help raise awareness and encourage safer, more considerate parking around the school.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta Quotes ...

Last Friday, our Year 3 class led a beautiful and inspiring whole-school assembly focused on their class saint, St. Teresa of Calcutta. The children shared powerful messages about her life of selfless service, compassion, and unwavering faith. Through prayers, reflections, and a thoughtful presentation, they reminded us all the importance of kindness, humility, and helping those in need.

On Thursday, we dedicated much of our time to learning why VE Day is such a significant moment in history. We had special assemblies to remember why this day was so special.

In the afternoon, Y3 held their own classroom street party, complete with tea and cake, and listened to Winston Churchill’s historic 3pm announcement.

Staying safe on our roads isn’t just a skill — it’s a lifelong habit. It is crucial to learn key strategies for helping children navigate streets safely and confidently, from practising journeys together to teaching them how to choose the safest crossing points.

Here you can find real-world advice on issues like the dangers of parked vehicles, reversing cars and mobile phone distractions — it’s an invaluable tool for parents  who want to help young people travel independently without compromising their safety.

School Uniform

It has been noted that some children are not wearing the correct uniform.

The school uniform is a distinctive feature of St. Joseph's and one we take great pride in. It plays an important role in uniting us as a school family and helps to reinforce our unique identity.

To help keep costs manageable while ensuring our pupils look smart, we ask parents to purchase plain uniform items from any supplier of their choice. The official School Badge, School Tie, and Book Bag can then be purchased directly from the school via SchoolGateway.

If you have any questions or concerns in terms of uniform, then please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
