Three Kings Quentin Blake Christmas Card

God of wonder, help us to have as much faith as the wise men who followed your star to find Jesus. Lead us down the right paths and help us to recognise Jesus in the people that we meet as we travel through life.

Amen

Happy new year and welcome back to a new term.

I don't think any of us were quite expecting the start that we had. Thank you again to all of you for your patience and understanding during this week. Hopefully, after the weekend, the weather will change for the better !

The children have made a great start to the new term and have settled back into school well.  It really has been wonderful to go into classes and see the children engaged and enjoying their learning so well.

Today we considered our school mission:

Walking in Jesus' footsteps

We Live, We Love, We Learn, We Share

This afternoon, we had a whole school assembly, then back in the classrooms, each class thought about what this motto actually meant to them. The children came up with some very impressive ideas.

Here is just a small example of some of the fantastic work from this afternoon.

JusTalk Kids – billed as a child-friendly version of the JusTalk social networking platform – boasts a strong community of younger users, with approximately 20 million accounts having been created on the app.  In theory, a social media site designed specifically for children and young people should avoid many of the usual risks associated with other platforms.

In practice, however, it’s important to note that JusTalk Kids has its fair share of online safety concerns. You’ll find expert advice on the hazards in the app, and how you can safeguard the children in your care as they use it in this guide, empowering you to make a young user’s time on the platform as secure as possible.

French Pen Pals

Mrs Cosgrove, our Languages Co-ordinator, has set up exchanges this academic year with two
Primary schools in France. One is a private Catholic school - Primary and Secondary - in the Pyrenees, near the border with Spain  http://ecolecollegesaintjoseph.org/. The other is a Catholic.
Primary school in Grenoble, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, South East France www.rondeau-montfleury.fr
Y5 have exchanged a few videos and letters written in French with the school in Grenoble, South Eastern France, and Y6, the school in the Pyrenees – also called Saint Joseph’s. The children were really excited to receive the letters from their French pen pals written in English, and are looking forward to corresponding with them and learning about their life at school and home in France, as well as improving their written French!

As we now say farewell to the birth at Christmas, we turn towards the cross and Easter. Travelling together, may we find strength, joy and inspiration on that journey.
