29th November 2024

On Sunday we will light the first candle on our Advent wreath. Each week we will
light an extra candle and watch as the light from the wreath grows brighter. The growing light is a sign of our growing hope as we wait for the birth of our Saviour, Jesus.

Advent is a holy time of preparation. During the first two weeks of Advent, we don’t just prepare for the birth of Jesus on Christmas day; the Bible also encourages us to prepare for the day when Jesus will come again.

Blessing of advent wreaths

It was lovely to welcome Fr Mark into school today to bless our Advent wreaths and celebrate the start of Advent. The Liturgy Leaders led a whole school celebration of the word in the school hall before Fr Mark blessed our class Advent wreaths and our travelling cribs.

Y6 were visited by students from Sheffield University to learn about politics and debate. They debated whether mobile phones should be banned in schools.

The children in Y6 reflected on their wellbeing with students from the university.

Recent user numbers for the messaging app Snapchat currently sit at approximately 800 million and figures from data gathering company Statista indicate that roughly 20% of those users are unde 18. Please be aware that none of our children should be using SNAPCHAT, as there is an age restriction of 13years.

That’s a lot of young people participating in this sprawling social media platform, many of whom are potentially unaware of the associated risks.
