Friday 8th November

" A poor widow came and put in two small coins, the equivalent of a penny."

Mark 12:42

Today in the assembly we heard the Gospel story of the widow who gave away her last two coins. Children learnt that Jesus is interested in the generosity of our hearts. Even if it feels like we have little to give, will we trust God and give our all.

1th November marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, and this year’s theme is “Choose Respect”. Statistics from this week’s experts – the Anti-Bullying Alliance – reveal that 40% of children in the UK have suffered some form of bullying within the last year, with the most common experience being name-calling and verbal abuse. While it can have several causes, this kind of behaviour is commonly seen when a disagreement between two youngsters gets out of hand and emotions take over. .

Many children are still learning how to conduct themselves, and it can be difficult for them to know how to act when faced with someone who disagrees with them, or otherwise find themselves in conflict with another person. It can also be tricky for parents and educators to teach them how to resolve disputes in a mature and healthy manner.

On Thursday, our Y5 and Y6 children had an incredible time programming robots. Thank you to Mrs Pooley, from Sheffield Girls, for working with us .

In winter, children and pets are particularly at risk when tempted to play on the ice formed in open water, and adults can find themselves at risk when attempting to save them.

Taking a nice walk in cold weather with your family, friends or dogs in tow can be really refreshing. Just make sure you know some simple tips on how to stay safe in winter.

Here are some useful tips to keep safe this winter:

Praying the Our Father

Praying the Our Father

During this Year of Prayer, Pope Francis has invited us all to come closer to God through the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
