Friday 11th October

Thank you to everyone who attended our Harvest Festival on Tuesday. The children sang and spoke beautifully, and it really was lovely to have so many visitors sharing the celebration with us.

Thank you for your very generous donations of food for the Food Bank. We also raised £163.46 on the day, thanks to your extremely kind donations.

An extremely kind young lady in Y5, Orla, contributed £35, which she had raised by selling some of her teddies and soft toys, a very kind and special gesture indeed !

Our liturgy leaders will soon be visiting the supermarket with these donations,  to buy more food for the Food Bank.

Robotics Celebration Event at Sheffield Girls

Last Friday, a group of our Y6 boys were invited to attend the Robotics Event at Sheffield Girls. They behaved beautifully and were excellent team players with the children from other schools. We were extremely proud of them all.

Debating Immersion Day at Sheffield Girls'

Some of our Y6 children went to Sheffield Girls' to learn about debate.  Here is what they had to say about the day:

When we were in Sheffield Girls we learnt many things but the No.1 thing that we learnt was to ask more POI’s (Point Of Interest). We also learnt that we need to be formal but you still need to voice your opinion and say it loud and clear. The St.Joseph's girls who went to Debate had a really fun time and we were very grateful even if we lost a round of Debating!  We even got a chance to watch the Year 12 and Year 11’s debate themselves away!

A Home Office study has found that approximately 350 children are injured in accidental fires every year. Naturally, this highlights the importance of educating young people on fire safety – ensuring they are aware of what precautions they can take to keep themselves protected from flammable materials and naked flames.

This guide gives some excellent advice on how to teach children to be safe around fire. It breaks down the steps you can take at home to protect your children in common situations - from bonfire night to lighting a few scented candles in your home.

It can be difficult to know where to start when teaching children and young people about this potentially life-saving topic. That’s why we’ve put together this free guide, offering expert advice on how to educate those in your care about fire safety. It breaks down the steps you can take to protect youngsters in common situations – from bonfire night to lighting a few scented candles.
