Maker Programme

St Joseph's is committed to the Maker School approach.

Maker (School) provides opportunities for children and teachers in primary, early year’s settings and special schools to develop the skills, knowledge and mind-sets for future successes.

This approach is carefully structured and developed to support schools on their journey. A key feature of the Maker (School) collective – an inspiring, collaborative and supportive community for teachers who are putting making at the centre of learning, to fit with individual’s contexts.

Maker gives a type of mind-set, which supports out of the box thinking. Children are given the right environment and opportunities, to allow all to succeed and flourish. It helps children to see the world as full of opportunities.

This year we shall be working closely with Sheffield University, in our efforts to develop this approach.

We believe that Maker will help to equip our children with the skills that they will need for the future – to successfully engage with jobs that don’t yet exist. We feel this approach, will help to “future-proof,” our children.
