Early Years Policy

Aims

All our aims in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum encompass and seek to develop the objectives set out in our Mission Statement. To provide a broad and balanced curriculum which fosters the intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, moral and cultural development of the children.

As children develop at different rates and in different ways to ensure that all children are enabled access to the curriculum and make progress commensurate with their developing abilities irrespective of their gender, ethnic or social background or special educational needs

To enable children to learn and develop skills, attitudes and understanding which prepare them for continuing education. The provision of play and conversation being the main tools by which young children learn about themselves and the world around them. The Early Years Unit aims to provide an important school foundation, ensuring an easy transition from Nursery (F1) to Reception (F2). Children in F2 will be prepared for Y1 where they will be able to access KS1 of the National Curriculum

To enable the children to make an effective transition from home to school valuing and respecting parents as the child’s first educators.
