Year 3 Class Information: Summer Term 1 2023
Stones to Sands
Welcome to Year 3!
The Year 3 team is made up of Mr Forbes, Mrs Harrand and Mrs Levick.
Curriculum
During the Summer Term we will be covering a range of exciting and interesting topics
Maths: Angles and Shapes, Securing Multiplication and Division and calculation strategies. We will also be learning our timetables and working on our mental maths.
English: Our text this term is The Queen's Nose by Dick King-Smith. We will be using this classic text to explore persuasive writing and non-chronological reports.
Science: In science we will be investigating Plants. We will identify the different parts of flowering plants, explore the requirements of plants for life and growth, and investigate the way in which water is transported within plants
RE: Our R.E. topic this term is exploring Energy. We will be thinking about our big question - "What’s the use of energy?"
Creative Curriculum: The Stone Age and The Egyptians - His
tory/Art/ DT
PSHE: Living in the Wider world - in this topic we will describe what it is like to live in Britain, talk about what democracy is, talk about what rules and laws are and talk about what liberty means. We will describe a diverse society and what being British means to us.
French: In French this term we will be learning to understand and say fruits and vegetables. We will learn how to ask for fruits and vegetables and write a sentence in French using the conjunction 'and'.
Computing: We will be understanding and sharing data - How do we use databases to find out information.
Music: Bringing us Together - music unites us, friendship and kindness
PE: Cardio Agility - reaction and response
Home Learning - Maths and English homework will usually be set on Learning With Parents and children will have either 1 week or 2 weeks to complete this. The website can be found here Learning with Parents
