Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

The Year 6 team is Miss Beasley and Mrs Gregory

English

We will be using these texts as stimulus for our writing. Our first unit focuses on Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, and we will be writing a first-person narrative. We will go on to use The Tempest by William Shakespeare as a stimulus for our writing.

Maths

We will be learning about place value, integers and decimals, multiplication and division, calculation problems, fractions, missing angles and lengths.

We will work on Maths which will prepare children for the transition to Secondary School.

History

We will learn about the Ancient Kingdom of Benin, looking at its rich artistic culture as well as how this civilisation was impacted by the arrival of Europeans to the African subcontinent. 

RE

Our first topic for Summer Term is Witness followed by Healing and concluding with Common Good

Science

We will be learning about scientific classification, Evolution and Electricity.

PE

Monday and Thursday

Homework

 

Homework is set every week on Learning with Parents in English and Maths.

As SATs get closer we will have regular Maths and Grammar homework.

Timetables Rockstars should be done regularly.
